Workshop & Operations Manager
Chris has been working in joinery since early doors with Precision Made Joinery, but his interest in the craft began much earlier at school. A careers advisor suggested an apprenticeship where Chris chose furniture making, Chris moved into joinery and completed his apprenticeship. He went on to spend 17 years with the same furniture company, building a reputation for loyalty, reliability and versatility. At PMJ, he brings wide-ranging workshop experience, strong machine skills and a practical approach to keeping projects moving from start to finish. He is also a qualified First Aider and looks after face-fit testing and important aspects of health and safety across the workshop. A steady and supportive presence in the team, Chris is someone people can rely on.
Your favourite PMJ moment?
What’s the part / day of your working week you look forward to most?
Monday mornings. Chris enjoys kicking off the week with the 7:30am team meeting, getting everyone together, going through what is ahead and making sure everyone knows what needs to be done. There are usually a few jokes along the way, but he is also there to keep everyone moving in the right direction and make sure the week gets off to a good start.
Away from the workshop…
What do you enjoy getting up to outside PMJ?
Chris is a family man who enjoys spending time outdoors with his wife and two children. Family life keeps him busy, with football, horse riding and go-karting all part of the mix. He is also a big animal lover and has had some unusual pets over the years.
Your secret superpower?
If you could have any superpower, what would you choose?
Batman would be his superhero of choice, but the superpower Chris really wants is the ability to slow time down. When there is a mountain of work to do, there never seem to be enough hours in the day, so being able to slow everything down would be pretty handy!
